Colors of My Soul: Tuesday Love Ramblings
Every Tuesday (and sometimes on any lovable day) we talk about love. Happiness and grief, joy and pain, love and hatred. Yesterday, today and tomorrow… being the part of who we are and what we’ll become.
Sometimes all you have is a dream. You stick to it; you hold on to it, and you caress it. Like a baby. Like a child that grows up into something beautiful and wonderful if you do the things right. Provided you do them right. Provided you know what is right. Provided you know what you are doing.
I have questions. Millions of questions. I have quite a number of how’s, several what’s, a few when’s, hundreds of what if’s, and one why. Obviously I don’t have any answers. Sometimes I wish I had them, sometimes I am happy I don’t.
It does not matter now, she thought. Nothing does. She will close her eyes and everything will disappear. The world. The tears. The pain. That was what she hoped for, that was what she believed in, that was what she had never tried before.
Everything you’ve ever read, heard or seen in the movies about long-distance relationships is true: They’re risky, they’re challenging… and they can be the most rewarding time of your life.
They met in a formal dinner. She was nervous. He was sweet. They both led very busy lives with very demanding careers. He managed to make quite an impression, until he took her to the middle of the floor, and asked her to dance the chicken dance with him.
Someone once said, love does not walk away, people do. I will add, and they take love with them. It is like taking it out of an old box, folding it carefully, packing into a bag and taking it away from you.
“Alright hun.” Claire asks as we start unloading the car. I could only shrug. My best friend Claire and her boyfriend were helping me sell my stuff at the local car boot sale.
She woke up and instantly checked the clock. 3 am. Not that bad, she thought. Yesterday it was 2 am, the day before she had not have any sleep at all. She hardly could sleep since he had gone.
“I love you!” he said looking into her sparkling eyes and waiting impatiently for a reply from her side. She blushed and whispered “I love you too” maybe a little too fast but who cares since these were words he has been waiting for for so long.
You sure do not know anyone who has not seen any romantic movie ever. Even if people claim they have not, they did. Be it alone, with their husband or wife, girlfriend or boyfriend, willingly or forced. Everyone has seen them, gossiped about them, loved them or hated them.
When you were a kid you had this perfect picture in your mind. The picture of how things will be. Of how they should be. When you were a kid you had all the answers. When, how, who? You knew it all. Once you grow up, you still have the picture but the answers are gone.
Infidelity brings with it a wave of pain, hopelessness and despair. Dealing with the aftermaths of an affair can be traumatic, for all the three concerned. Though we have read, seen movies, discussed with friends, tried to analyze the causes and effects, the subject continues to evoke a curiosity each time it is discussed.
“Why?” He asked.
“I don’t know… It is…” She fell silent searching for the right word.
“Complicated?” He came to help.
“Well, yes, complicated.”
