Letting Go… or Not
Life is all about socialization. You cannot exist separately from the whole world. As well as you can’t oppose yourself to the world and people in your life. No matter if you want it or not but you meet people.
Some of them will be just an episode and you will forget about them the moment they leave you. Some are people that you wonder if they ever think about you. About others you wonder what might have happened to them. And then there are some you wish you never had to think about again. Unfortunately you still do.
In your life you never get the people you want. Instead you get the people you need…
to love you
to miss you
to hate you
to support you
to disappoint you
to teach you
to hurt you
to make you smile
to cry with you
Those are people who make you the person you are.
But it happens also that suddenly people you know become people you KNEW. People who used to be an important part of your life play this role for someone else now. And you really try to believe it doesn’t make any difference. But you cannot lie to yourself. And then sweet I love you’s become bitter goodbye’s.
In your life you don’t feel hurt until you think about how much things have changed, who you’ve lost along the way, and how much of it was your fault.
And if you really think about it you will realize that there is always that one thing that you hate but can’t change.
Just one mistake you made but can’t take back.
A moment you would do anything to have again.
But then you know it is all left in the past and no matter how hard you try you can’t bring it back.
Not today. Not tomorrow. Not ever.
And that’s the moment when you realize you have to move on. Someone once said that the hardest thing in life is to know which bridge to cross and which to burn. How do you know what is the right bridge? The answer is simple. You don’t. But you should always remember that when a moment comes where you want to turn back – that’s the point where you have to go on.
Because life is like an open book. We always turn to new pages and grow into new chapters, but we should never forget to turn over few pages back just to realize where we stand now. Because moving on in life it is not simply “not looking back.”
It is more about taking a glance at yesterday and noticing how much you’ve grown since then.
